TIM KNAPPSTEIN | Riposte Wines

Tim Knappstein is a third generation vigneron, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence of all things vinous! Having graduated as Dux of the Roseworthy oenology course in 1966, Tim made his mark as winemaker at the then family owned winery, Stanley Wine Company, amassing 500 show awards, including 120 gold medals and 24 trophies for the premium quality Leasingham range over the next 10 years. An unrequited passion for cool climate wines led Tim to the Adelaide Hills he planted the first vineyard in the cool climate Lenswood district of the Adelaide Hills. In 1995 he moved from the Clare wine region to live on the vineyard in Lenswood. In 2006 as a counterpoint to the world of mass produced big company wines Tim founded Riposte, a selection of the finest wines made from cool climate Adelaide Hills fruit.

Since 1975, Tim has judged at regional, state, national and international wine shows. Currently, along with other judging commitments, he is chairman of judges at the annual National Cool Climate Wine Show in Bathurst New South Wales.
